马戏这些年

郡里一个警察组织募捐的招数是打电话给居民，卖马戏表演的票子。参加过一次，就被人放在名单上，年年让你续交“会员费”。我附庸风雅地觉得，小镇“文化生活”里，象这样还有些<<汤姆索亚历险记>>古风的，已经不多了。尤其马戏团挺当回事儿的，表演前要群众起立唱星条旗永不落。
头几年，开场气势很了不得，一溜儿平板车开出来，前面是穿闪亮衣服的训兽师，脚边伏一头金钱豹，目光炯炯。后面的笼子里装了游走咆哮的狮子，老虎，足有十几头。然后是步行的骏马，骆驼，大象等等。
渐渐的，不知道是动物保护运动的影响，还是马戏团削减开支，大动物慢慢消失，大象和小马只是放在场外让孩子们骑着玩，不再参与演出。有一年，添了穿粉红芭蕾凸凸裙的猴戏，大约灵长类长得太象人了，没有成为保留项目。去年有个节目的主角是各各叫的花公鸡，今年出彩的则是条十几尺长的蟒蛇。不知道将来会不会有蜘蛛和蚯蚓的成名机会。
那个狗跳火圈，变成“How Low Can You Go"-- 一只着火的横竿，一再放低，由演员仰面从竿下过。山羊四足挤挤站立的节目，换成美女在窄桌上耍杂技。。。再加上什么炮打活人，空中飞人，空中摩托车，添满两小时表演时间。
失业动物的工作几乎都被人取代了。

I heard several segments of radio documentary in which the reporters interviewed and described circus performers about their skills, their origins, their lives on the road. One documentary (from Britain) focused on the nomadic lifestyle. All the interviewees said that they could not live a life of repetition and sameness, that they enjoy moving from town to town endlessly and meeting new people all the time, despite the lack of stability in family, friends, and surroundings. The writer/director/producer of the program was obviously fascinated by this yearning for constant travel and change, their aversion to being still.

I also heard an essay written by a journalist father whose daughter is on the trapeze in the circus and a slightly supernatural short story about a liontamer's wife.

查马戏团的情况，看到一些抗议照片。

昨晚上，蜘蛛侠在大轮子上跳绳，绊个踉跄，差点儿摔下来，吓得观众们尖叫。他们也挺不容易的。

思忖着以后不看马戏了，省下的钱让全家多看八分之一场橄榄球。

阔太，不着急，先慢慢挣钱，等吴菜再大点正好带她一起看；我在波士顿朋友去看了，说旁边一个四五岁大小女孩儿，全场都在拍手。。。我琢磨着等猪猪再大点也带她去看一次。

没有就去vegas 看好了。
他们现在也没原来那么好看了，我觉得...不过马戏还是看现场有气氛。漂亮的小男孩杂耍掉了轮子，全场惊呼，一次不行，两次不行，第三次大家都屏住呼吸，提心吊胆，看他勉强接著，大松一口气。事后一想，嗨，3rd time is the charm , 大家还真上当，只是桥唔怕旧，最紧要受。

vegas那个小孩子能看么?
我只看了Alegria；觉得音乐配得很好。可惜那次心疼银子，没有买好座位；所以有些角度看不清楚。看来以后还是得咬牙坐在正中间。
